SEPTEMBER 2021: NAPA VALLEY

California is a highly-revered region, with good reason.  Its sunny, free-spirited nature, progressive and pioneering producers along wide-ranging sustainability efforts give way to an amazing array of world-class wines.

From its beginnings in the 18th century, California has evolved into an international winemaking powerhouse. The unique diversity of the Golden State’s climate, geography and soil types make it one of the largest wine producers on earth – up there with Italy, Spain and France for sheer volume – and its top wines easily rank among the best in the world.

OCTOBER 2021: GERMANY

Germany has been making exceptional wines since Roman times. Most famous for its fruity, aromatic, and elegant white wines, like Riesling, Germany is the eighth largest wine-producing country worldwide. While it once had a reputation for sweet, lower-priced wines, German winemakers are now producing an enticing selection, including dry and sophisticated whites and reds. With so many styles to choose from, there has never been a better time to discover the wines of Germany.

NOVEMBER 2021: CROATIA

You’ve most likely already had a wine that originated in Croatia, you just don’t know it! In 1994, grape geneticist, Dr. Carol Meredith, discovered that Zinfandel (aka Primitivo) is identical to Croatia’s Tribidrag (or Crljenak Kaštelanski). Tribidrag also happens to be the parent grape of Croatia’s most popular red wine, Plavac Mali. So, if you love Zinfandel, guess what, you already love Plavac Mali! Find out more about the wines of Croatia:  Plavac Mali (bold red wines with blackberry notes), Pošip (full-bodied whites with subtle almond notes), Malvazija Istarska (refreshing whites with a spice note), Grk (dry whites with peppery pear notes), Teran (earthy, full-bodied robust red wines), and Graševina (Medium-bodied aromatic).

DECEMBER 2021: SPAIN

With its 3,000-year-old winemaking history, Spain is one of the oldest wine regions and has more land under grape cultivation than anywhere else on earth. JANUARY 2022: SOUTH AMERICA

South America’s largest wine-growing country is famous for Malbec, but they produce more than just that! Cabernet Sauvignon grows very well in the high-and-dry climate of Mendoza along with their highly recognized white, Torrontes. Argentina’s newer regions include Patagonia, which creates exceptional Pinot Noir.

FEBRUARY 2022: SOUTH AFRICA

South Africa has been producing wines ever since the first traders from the Dutch East India Company set up a supply station on the Cape, more than 350 years ago. The country’s dry and sunny Mediterranean climate, cooled by the confluence of the Atlantic and Indian oceans, is ideal for growing a wide range of grapes; and the dramatic geography allows it to produce a myriad of styles. Today, South African wines are recognized for offering excellent quality at affordable prices – and sustainability.

MARCH 2022: GREECE

Greece has been producing wine longer than just about anywhere on earth, and yet the country doesn’t garner the same respect of its northern neighbors, Italy, Spain, and France. That’s beginning to change, however, as the world’s wine fans realize Greek wine is about much more than just Retsina. Upgraded production facilities, an abundance of unique, delicious, and indigenous grapes, and a price point that’s often well below the level of quality mean wine lovers are waking up to the joys of this ancient wine region.
